Music Director of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra for more than a decade, Miguel Harth-Bedoya  is one of this country’s most exciting and sought-after conductors. Under his leadership, the artistic level of the Fort Worth Symphony and its contribution to the cultural life of the community have grown enormously.  In the United States, he has also appeared with the symphony orchestras of Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Colorado, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Montreal, National (Washington, DC), New York, Philadelphia, Saint Louis, San Diego, Seattle, Toronto, Utah, and the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra.

 

Worldwide, Mr. Harth-Bedoya has performed with the BBC London Symphony, BBC Scottish Symphony, Berlin Symphony, Birmingham Symphony, Dresden Philharmonic, Gøteborg Symphony, Helsinki Philharmonic, MDR Orchestra/Leipzig, London Philharmonic, Malmø Symphony, Munich Philharmonic, NDR Orchestra/Hamburg, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orquesta y Coros Nacionales de España, Orquesta Nacional de Madrid, Orquesta Sinfónica de Castilla de Lyon/Valladolid, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia,  Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Residentie Orkest/The Hague, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Stavanger Symphony (Norway), SWR Orchestra/Stuttgart, Sydney Symphony, WDR Orchestra/Cologne, Zurich Tonhalle, as well as tours of New Zealand with the New Zealand Orchestra and of Scandinavia with Renée Fleming.  Festival appearances include Adelaide, Ascona (Lugano), Aspen, Avanti (Helsinki), BBC Proms, Blossom, Bravo! Vail Valley, Hollywood Bowl (for which he received an Emmy), Interlochen, Oregon Bach, Ravinia and Tanglewood.

 

Mr. Harth-Bedoya is the creator and conductor of an exciting, highly acclaimed multi-media project called Caminos del Inka. Following its premiere by the Chicago Symphony in October 2008, John von Rhein of the Chicago Tribune wrote “…I found the multimedia event a refreshing departure from the usual subscription concert fare and format.”  It has also been performed with the Boston Symphony at Tanglewood, The Philadelphia Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, Residentie Orkest/The Hague and the MDR Orchestra in Leipzig.

 

Equally at home in the theater, Miguel Harth-Bedoya conducted a new production of La Bohème at the English National Opera/London in 2009, directed by Jonathan Miller. He has also led productions with the opera companies of Canada, Cincinnati, Minnesota and Santa Fe. 

 

Winner of the 2002 Seaver/NEA Conductors Award, Mr. Harth-Bedoya has also served as Music Director of the Auckland Philharmonia, Eugene Symphony, and the Philharmonic Orchestra of Lima. He was born in Peru and now makes his home in Fort Worth with his wife Maritza and their three children, Elena, Emilio, and Elisa.
